FAQ's
|
| In
some cases yes, however, it is best if you schedule an
initial consultation where we have time to talk about your
specific cosmetic and aging concerns and formulate an
individualized treatment plan that works best for you!
During this time we can test hidden areas of your skin to
see how you will react, and if necessary start you on a
treatment regimen to maximize results and prevent
complications such as hypo or hyperpigmentary changes in
your skin. This also applies to the those interested in
incorporating anti-aging treatments into their regimen. |

|
|
Again,
every patient is different, and at the initial time of
consultation we will formulate a treatment plan that works
for you and your budget. We generally recommend packages in
series of six treatments where the sixth treatment is always
free! This seems to give the best results for IPL, Laser
Vein and Hair removal, as well as Chemical Peels and
Microdermabrasion. However, you always have the choice to
purchase one treatment at a time.

Anti-Aging
Medicine is the fastest growing medical specialty in the
world, and is practiced by thousands of healthcare providers
in every country, everyday! The core belief in this
discipline lies in providing the body with all the nutrients
needed to maintain health, initiate tissue and cellular
repair, and hence help you maintain health, vigor, and
beauty, with a little help from your anti-aging aesthetic
physician of course!
There
are varying degrees of aggressiveness ranging from
nutriceutical use and health maintenance, to Hormone
Replacement Therapy. In my practice, I ONLY utilize
nutriceutical therapy to help repair tissue both at the
level of the DNA and at the level of the tissue. I do not
believe at this time the evidence in the medical literature
supports the use of Hormone Replacement Therapy. If I find a
patient has a true medical condition requiring replacement (
IE Hypothyroid, etc) I am happy to refer them to one of my
Endocrine colleagues for further management and hormone
replacement therapy.
Anti-Aging
Medicine provides patients with a way to heal from the
inside out and I have found in my practice that this equates
with even more beautiful results. The goal of anti-aging
medicine is to not only delay the inevitable, but enhance
the quality of your life, and at the same time keep you
looking strong, fit and youthful!

BOTOX®
Cosmetic is a highly purified protein injected into the skin
to relax the muscles that cause some kinds of wrinkles.
|
 |
|
|
The
needles for BOTOX® are much smaller than those used for
collagen and Restylane®; patients are often surprised at
how little pain BOTOX® injections cause.
|
 |
|
|
Women
who are pregnant, breast-feeding or who hope to become
pregnant, and people who are taking certain antibiotics,
have neuromuscular disorders or an allergy to BOTOX® should
not have injections.

The
particles scrape away the surface layer of aging or damaged
skin, which is then brushed off with the microdermabrasion
vacuum tool, with no need for anesthesia. Only a small
amount of skin is removed, so damaged areas on sensitive
areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be
treated.
|
 |
|
|
Yes.
In fact, the procedure is particularly helpful for Asian and
dark-skinned patients who risk skin discoloration with other
anti-aging treatment options.
|
 |
|
|
Microdermabrasion
is often performed in conjunction with other anti-aging
procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels.
|
 |
|
|
Chemical
peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face to
smooth texture, reduce scarring, and remove blemishes and
pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin.
|
 |
|
|
There
are three types of chemical peels, ranging from mild to
strong - alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), tricholoroacetic acid
(TCA) and phenol - and formula strengths are tailored to
each patient.
|
 |
|
|
Anesthesia
is not required because phenol and TCAs act as an anesthetic
while AHAs produces only a slight stinging, though you may
be given a sedative. In an AHA peel, the skin is cleaned and
the solution applied; there is no need for
"after-peel" ointment or covering. During TCA and
phenol peels, the skin is cleansed and solution is applied,
which may cause a brief stinging sensation. Petroleum jelly
or a waterproof adhesive tape may be put on the skin
following a phenol treatment.

Lasers
produce highly focused, intense beams of light that are
absorbed by dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the
skin's surface and converted to heat, destroying the
follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years.
|
 |
|
|
Multiple
laser hair removal treatments are required for complete
removal because the follicle must be "active" at
the time of treatment and not all follicles are active at
the same time.

 |
|
|
The
best candidates have sun damage, freckles, age spots, acne
scarring, enlarged pores, and redness caused by broken
capillaries and rosacea.
|
 |
|
|
Yes.
Advanced light systems have been used safely for millions of
treatments worldwide. These systems treat only the targeted
tissues, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. However,
some bruising or redness may occur.
|
 |
|
|
After
only one treatment, your skin will have a more even tone
with a smoother look and feel. Sunspots will fade. Pore
sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually
decrease in size. These improvements will steadily increase
with each treatment. Patients with rosacea will see a
progressive decrease in redness with every treatment.

The
laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in your blood and
collapses the unwanted vein. The laser energy is delivered
through a hand-held device with a cooling tip that protects
your skin.
